Lush and melodic Detroit/Dutch techno album from the mighty Conforce. Ever since the release of his 'Our Concern EP' in late 2007, Boris Brunnik has forged a celebrated catalogue of heart-warming techno for labels like Rush Hour and Curle. He arrives at his debut album for Meanwhile, shaping ten tracks of synth-cushioned headspaces equally at home on the 'floor or the bedroom. His sound takes the most florid elements of Detroit operators like Carl Craig or Derrick May and fuses them with a European dub-techno sensibility to place him in the recent tradition of Convextion. This vinyl and digital formats omit the recent 'Love-Hate' single and the more electro driven cuts in favour of six club-ready goods. From the rumbling, bass-driven lowland topography of 'Subtraction' to the synth coralled aquatic scapes of 'Sonar Conversations' on the first plate, to the exquisite 'Rare Education' or the psychoacoustic space of 'Intimidation' on the second platter, this is some prime deeptime club material. Fans of Delta Funktionen or Convextion should check this without delay...

A truly remarkable album! I'd like to add that this is one of very few albums that I think truly sound better on vinyl, as it only enhances the intended experience. Every little bit seeps with atmosphere, like watching a dystopian, heavily grainy, space movie with ships surveying distant planets. That goes for the artwork as well, to which I'm sure everyone can agree, is the perfect marriage of both sound and visualization. Here's to hoping there'll be a 2846! Trisska
